Ja Morant was ruling the NBA headlines during the Finals even though when the league delayed the announcement of his punishment for the gun controversy. But now the wait is over and with the Denver Nuggets winning the championship and even getting the Championship Parade done. The league has finally announced the suspension time for Ja Morant.

According to NBA Insider, Adrian Wojnarowski: “The NBA has suspended Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant 25 games to start the 2023-2024 season.” The speculations were correct and indeed the Memphis Grizzlies guard got suspended for more than 18 games. Many around the league even expected a fine with the suspension. But so far the only punishment announced for Ja Morant is the 25 games suspension.

The last time Ja Morant was in the headlines for flexing a gun during an IG Live at a strip club in Denver. The league suspended him for 8 games. With that suspension, he even received counseling and later apologized for his controversial actions. But none of that matters as he did the same again and now we have him suspended for 25 games.

Ja Morant’s camp even tried to get him out of the controversy and claimed the gun he had in the most recent controversy to be a toy gun. But the league is obviously not riding with any of it and getting clowned as they suspend the star. But the internet is still disappointed as many believe the punishment isn’t that impactful and Ja Morant should be out for the whole season.

Is Ja Morant losing anything with the 25 games suspension?

Ja is going to lose a lot of money and trust with the recently announced punishment. But that’s not where it ends. As he’ll also be suffering in the long run when he’s back and balling for the Memphis Grizzlies after 25 games. With the leader being suspended and the second voice being in the Free Agency Market. The Memphis Grizzlies are going to have a hard time at the start of the 2023-24 season. Their record will have a serious impact and due to Ja Morant and his obsession with guns, they may lose a playoff spot and end up in the play-in tournament or without a post-season run next year.

Also, Morant will only be allowed to play 57 out of the 82 games next season. And, if he’s unfortunate and injures himself then he’ll be limited to another lesser number. Also, with the 25 games suspension, he’ll not be eligible to win any post-season award like the MVP award. Ja Morant will also once again miss the All-NBA honors.

The criteria of playing a minimum of 65 games just knocks him out. All of these will have a sure impact on Ja Morant’s next contract and extensions with the Memphis Grizzlies. The franchise can also part ways with the star if it gets any worse from here and he again finds himself in trouble.
