Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is facing another suspension and a possible ban from the NBA after he posted a video of himself holding a gun on Instagram Live on Saturday. This is not the first time that Morant has been in trouble for his actions involving firearms. In March, he was suspended for 10 games after he was spotted waving a gun at a strip club.

The NBA and the Grizzlies are looking into the matter and have suspended Morant indefinitely from all team activities. Morant’s actions have drawn harsh criticism from fans, media and former players who have questioned his judgment and maturity. One of the most outspoken critics was Kendrick Perkins, a former NBA champion and current ESPN analyst. Perkins slammed Morant on First Take, saying that he was acting like a fool and that he was putting his NBA career in jeopardy.

Perkins said that Morant lost more than $600,000 because he was not voted All-NBA, not because he lacked talent, but because he ruined his reputation with his off-court antics. He said that he did not vote for Morant and that he also lost endorsement opportunities because of the situation.

“Here’s the thing about Ja Morant. Okay, one, he lost more than $600,000 because he didn’t get voted all NBA. It wasn’t because of his talent; it was because of what he did off the court. Because he damn sure ain’t getting one of my votes, and that was one of the reasons why I didn’t vote for him. So he actually lost way more money than that, outside the endorsement deals that he lost because of the situation,” said Perkins.

Ja Morant needs to grow up and make better decisions according to Perkins

Perkins added that he was watching Morant closely after the first incident and hoping that he would change his image and the way people perceive him. He said that he saw Morant with a gold grill in his mouth and that he realized he did not learn anything. He said that the gold grill was a bad look for Morant and that it showed the wrong culture that he was trying to impress.

Perkins finally said that Morant was “just a dummy” and that he better watch out if he does not want to get kicked out of the league. He said that Morant could face a 25-game or a year-long suspension or even worse. He said that Morant should not think that the NBA needs him because the NBA will always find new young stars to replace him.

“Ja Morant thinks that the NBA needs him. He actually thinks that. Like when you start to do half actions like this, and you keep repeating it, you think that the NBA needs you. The NBA don’t need you, Ja… The NBA is going to continue to find their young stars. And here’s the thing that Ja Morant gotta be careful of. We talking about 25 games or a year suspension. He better be careful if he’s not out the league.”

Morant has a lot of potential, but he also has a lot of problems. He needs to grow up and make better decisions if he wants to stay in the NBA and become a true star.
