With the NBA Finals done and dusted, all eyes are on Ja Morant. The Memphis Grizzlies guard has been a hot topic of debate and discussion for close to two months now. After his infamous recurring incident of gun flashing, he has been under investigation by the NBA. However, Commissioner Adam Silver announced that the penalty, along with discovered additional information, will be announced after the NBA Finals.

While Morant has been the subject of a lot of public criticism, a few people have shown their support. Many have volunteered and sympathized with the guard and have offered help. Quite recently, famous hip hop artist Lil Wayne too, reportedly reached out to Morant to help and counsel him. The reports of Wayne reaching out to the young player come from the ‘Undisputed’ host Skip Bayless.

Lil Wayne himself was once in trouble for gun possession. The rapper was arrested in 2007 after he pleaded guilty to attempted possession of a weapon in connection with a gun that was found on his tour bus in Manhattan. He served eight months of a one-year sentence at Rikers Island jail.

Bayless, who has a close relationship with Wayne, reported that the rapper had reached out to Ja Morant to help him stay out of firearm possession troubles. However, the guard’s team never reverted back to the rapper, as many speculate he turned a cold shoulder to the offer.

The fact that Ja Morant has reportedly denied help from Lil Wayne has made quite a few people iffy. After all, Wayne has gone through the troubles and darker side of the legal troubles of gun possession. Moreover, someone reaching out to genuinely help someone in a similar situation is regarded as a heartfelt gesture by many. However, with Morant not responding back, Twitter lit up. Interestingly, there were a lot of mixed feelings.

With Ja Morant seemingly rejecting Lil Wayne’s advances, it remains to be seen what plans the guard has. Moreover, fans and critics are more keen to know how the league has decided to penalize him. While some call for a 50-game suspension, some believe a 20-game suspension without pay is more than adequate. Many, however, feel that he should be suspended for an entire season.
