It has been a tough season for Ja Morant. The player is currently out for the entire season due to an injury. Before the big injury, the star was also suspended by the NBA after he was caught flashing a gun on a social media livestream last year. Shortly after his return from suspension, the player was injured, which ended his season. 

Recently, Dwayne Johnson, also known as ‘the Rock’, took his chance to roast Morant and his gun controversy.

The Hollywood star, who is also a wrestler, was present at the WWE SmackDown broadcast in Memphis. He took a hilarious jab at Morant before his match against Cody Rhodes.

As the internet and NBA world were reacting to Johnson’s shocking shot at Morant, the 24-year-old also took to X to react to the roast. The Grizzles guard seemed pretty okay about the statement, as he posted a 50-cent meme in a way of saying, ‘What did I do?‘. The athlete was hilariously wondering why ‘The Rock’ took a shot at him.

Morant has an underlying labral tear in his right shoulder. For the uninitiated, the player went through surgery in January and will be out for the whole season this year. 

The Grizzles are not doing well without the star player, as currently they are the 13th team in the Western Conference standings. The team might not get a chance to even compete in the play-ins.

Ja Morant gets suspended for flashing a gun on social media

In March 2023, Morant showed a firearm during an Instagram live. Due to this inappropriate behavior, the player was suspended for eight games by the NBA. During this time, the player was taking counseling. However, the Grizzlies guard seemed to have not learned his lesson during the suspension.

Two months after his return from suspension, Morant was again seen flashing a gun in his car on another Instagram Live. The NBA investigated the issue and announced the suspension of the athlete for 25 games. In the statement, the league wrote the reason behind the 25-game suspension. 

Engaging in reckless and irresponsible behavior with guns will not be tolerated.
The statement reads

Morant returned from suspension in December. After only playing nine games, the player injured his shoulder and went through surgery. The player was playing exceptionally well, as he averaged 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 8.1 assists with 47.1 FG% during these nine games. And the team was also 6-3 in Morant’s presence.
