The Memphis Grizzlies‘ superstar Ja Morant returned from his 25-game suspension. NBA fans were waiting to see the 24-year-old return and play at the elite level he is known for. Morant did not disappoint and broke a record. He did something no player has done after missing 25 or more games in NBA history.

Ja Morant scored the highest points any player with that many missed games has done. The previous record for most points after such a long time away was 26. Morant finished the game with 34 points. He also shot the game-winner. Morant said during his press conference a few days back that he was waiting with bated breath to show the NBA world what they were missing. And he delivered.

Ja Morant was suspended for 25 games by the NBA following his gun-toting incident on social media. This came after he was suspended for eight games last season for flashing a firearm in a social media post while at a Colorado nightclub. Morant said in the press conference last week that he had learned a lot from his mistakes and would let his behavior on and off the court do the talking for his image.

Morant finished the game with 34 points, six rebounds, and eight assists to lead the Memphis Grizzlies. They won the game 115 – 113 against the New Orleans Pelicans. Jaren Jackson Jr. added 24 points, six rebounds, and three blocks to help Morant. Brandon Ingram also put up 34 points, four rebounds, and six assists for the Pelicans.

Fans have set the internet on fire watching Ja Morant break a record on return

Ja Morant has set the NBA court on fire in his previous four seasons. Sitting at home for 25 games and not allowed to practice, fans were waiting to see what Morant can do in his return game. However, Morant did say during his press conference last week that he might need some in-game reps to get back to full speed.

But, fans did not anticipate this kind of a return from Morant. Most players require at least 2-3 games to get back to their best. But Morant shattered a long-standing NBA record in the process. Fans were livid on social media. Check their reactions below;

Ja Morant looked out of breath during the game due to a lack of game-time experience. But if his return is to indicate anything, it is that he will not hold himself back to lead the Grizzlies back into the playoff standings. The Grizzlies could turn the tide this season with Morant back on the team.
