NBA analyst Skip Bayless is not one who is easily impressed. A certified hater, Bayless is known for nit-picking at all players even in their moments of greatness. However, even Skip was won over by Ja Morant‘s outrageous display of athleticism. Morant has, since his debut, established himself as maybe the most explosive player in the league. He has countless highlight reel dunks each of which will make you go “how did he do that”. Let’s see how Skip reacted to his latest one.
With around 4 minutes left in the third quarter, the Memphis Grizzlies were already up by 18 points on the hosting Indiana Pacers. Ja Morant called for a pick and roll and expertly navigated around it. He then hit the Pacers big with a quick crossover and found himself with an open lane to the basket. Needing no further invitation, Morant drove right to the rim and took off with a characteristically explosive leap. To avoid the weakside help, Ja cocked the ball all the way back and slammed it down viciously creating one of the best dunk highlights of the season. On the receiving end was Jalen Smith.
This dunk — like many others — makes you question whether Morant has springs in his legs. He drew many plaudits for the dunk, including Skip Bayless. Bayless declared Morant as the most spectacular dunker at his size ever. As Skip in a tweet of his wrote: “JA MORANT DUNK: No man of his size has ever dunked more spectacularly and viciously.”
Ja’s ability to explode from seemingly nothing into one of the best highlights so consistently is what makes him one of the most exciting players to ever play the game. At the end of the day, what makes fans tune in are the highlights and Ja provides those at the highest frequency of any NBA player.

The Big Ticket tweeted “When we look back on Ja’s in game dunk highlights when it’s all said and done it’s gonna be up there with the some of the greatest ever“. It is true. Morant already has a highlight reel of just dunks that’s more impressive than most players amass over their entire career.
After the blowout win over the Indiana Pacers, Ja Morant was asked about his huge poster dunk over Jalen Smith. “Yeah, easy,” he said “It’s what everybody has been waiting for. I finally made it.” After the game, he hyped his play up even more on twitter saying “Jump with me if you want to go viral”. Now many around want him to showcase his talent at the Dunk Contest and Donovan Mitchell is one of those.
