“Cheap a** shot” Jae Crowder gets hit with flagrant one for kicking Luka Doncic in his nuts

Luka Doncic and Jae Crowder

The Dallas Mavericks vs Phoenix Suns semi-final series consists of matchups involving various marquee modern-day stars and veteran leaders. Be it Luka Doncic vs Devin Booker, or Chris Paul vs Spencer Dinwiddie. With both teams looking in good touch, it is highly unlikely to call out a guaranteed winner. Perhaps it is high time to be a star and no time to be a choker. The same was acknowledged by Suns star Jae Crowder.

Speaking of the latter player, his team, the home team were up by 6-18 in the first quarter and managed to close out the half with a decent lead. Amid which Jae Crowder went all out to kick Luka Doncic in his groin area while attempting a 3-pointer. After which the culprit was hit with a flagrant one and eventually Doncic was too up to his feet.

The Phoenix Suns veteran ended up passing up the shot while for his part, Luka Doncic clearly got the short end of the stick in this play. The Dallas Mavericks star immediately clutched his crotch area as he fell to the ground in pain. Doncic needed a minute before he could get up and shake off the hit.

If you ask him, Jae Crowder will definitely say that the kick was not intentional. This is a very subjective play and is open to one’s own interpretation. The referees, however, deemed it as a Flagrant 1 on the Suns swingman.

That being said, this foul only goes onto showcase how physical and tiring this semi-final series could be for all the stars. Given that as this particular series stretches into the late stages, players are bound to get physical, perhaps Doncic has got the first taste of what could be many to come.

For Jae Crowder, it is evidently crucial to keep his physicality in contact as there is an entire half to go. He surely wouldn’t want to leave his teammates empty handed by not being available in the latter stages of the game due to foul trouble. Which team comes out on top to draw first blood? Remains to be seen as Mavs vs Suns Game 1 action continues after halftime.
