There are plenty of superstars in the NBA who have been unfortunate enough to never win the league, despite their individual brilliance. James Harden is one of the most elite to be in this list. Having come only as close as the Conference Finals, the Beard decided to take a significant pay-cut before the start of 2022-23 season, only to remains affordable for the Philadelphia 76ers and be able to fulfil his desire to win an NBA title.

While there is no doubt that the Sixers, led by Joel Embiid are a force to reckon with in the Eastern Conference yet James Harden’s improved performance can do wonders for his teammates and the franchise. But ever since he has left Houston Rockets, Harden hasn’t been at his best, but his numbers are pretty decent if compared to other modern-day players.

Jalen Rose reveals this season could be the last chance for James Harden

Jalen Rose spoke on “Jalen & Jacoby” about what drove James Harden’s decision. Rose said, “Well, he’s invested in himself, right? Like this is his final chance at this point of his career, based on everything he’s accomplished, a future Hall of Famer, Top 75, been a MVP of the league, but he’s been a declining player still averaging 20-10 since he left Houston and that’s an absolute fact and look no further than this year’s playoffs.

“It’s almost like when Embiid wasn’t out there, even though they had Harden, it was like they didn’t have a chance and so now all of a sudden on paper people can call it a pay cut, but really he was hoping to get a big deal, so since he ain’t getting a big deal, he’s basically taking a haircut.”

Given that James Harden would be entering the 14th season of his illustrious NBA career, he would be itching to answer all his critics in the most appropriate way possible. With Embiid in blistering form over the past two seasons, an in-form Harden could make Sixers one of the favorites to come out of the EC. That being said, having taken a pay-cut to stamp his loyalty to Philadelphia, will the Beard finally come to the party? Remains to be seen.

Rose concluded by stating, “James Harden is doing all of the right things staying in the incubation of the team this offseason that now hopefully leads you into a landing, I mean a runway to have a great season, a long playoff run, now y’all re-visit this the next year and you’re like, Alright now it’s time to do my four-year deal.”
