“I believe they will find a way,” Jalen Rose believes healthy Anthony Davis is key to the Lakers’ postseason chances
Jalen Rose believes that the Lakers can make a deep run into the playoffs given the chance that Anthony Davis remains healthy. However, it remains to be seen if the Lakers with the new roster can reach into the postseason.
Jalen Rose and Anthony Davis
Jalen Rose thinks that Los Angles Lakers can make a deep playoff run and a lot of their chances depend on Anthony Davis and LeBron James. James and the Lakers are in a tough spot in the Western Conference. If playoffs started today, they would not even make it to the playoffs. However, after the midseason trade, the hopes of making a deep playoff run are back. Rob Pelinka and the front office brought in some important pieces into the roster, which could, more importantly complement James and Davis’ style of playing.
In a conversation with Mike Greenberg on Get Up on ESPN, Rose expressed his hope for the Lakers making it deep into the playoffs. When asked if the season again would be an embarrassment for Lakers, Rose said he had faith in the star duo to change the team’s fate. “We don’t have worry about this embarrassment because I believe LeBron James and Anthony Davis will find a way to get these Los Angeles Lakers to the playoffs,” said the NBA analyst.
The former NBA player also said that acquiring D’Angelo Russell and Rui Hachimura could change things for the Lakers. Having them both on the floor with James and AD could save the Lakers from embarrassment. However, he also added that Davis needs to remain healthy. “Having these two guys and LeBron playing as dominant as he is. If Anthony Davis can stay healthy, these Lakers will be in the playoffs, we don’t have to worry about the embarrassment,” he added.
Would making the playoffs be enough to save embarrassment for the Lakers and LeBron James
The 19 x All-Star player James recently said that not making it into the playoffs is not in his DNA. He made eight consecutive NBA finals and ten overall. Expecting more is inevitable when a player of his quality shares the court with a dominant player like Davis. There is no doubt that a healthy Davis and James can dominate on any given night.
Making it to the playoffs is one thing, but exiting in the first round isn’t any better than not making it at all. The Phoenix Suns were in the first round of the playoffs the last time the Lakers made it to the postseason. The presence of two stars on the floor is paramount for the Lakers. If either LeBron or Davis misses games going ahead, they have slim chances of making a push for the playoffs.
