NBA will now investigate James Harden and the situation he has created with the Philadelphia 76ers. He is least interested in suiting up for any organization with Daryl Morey’s services, as he ripped him apart during his Adidas Tour in China. Harden picked up his player option last month only to get traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. But the Sixers’ front office has ended the trade talks around him and now expects him to show up for the training camp.

After this announcement, Harden publically admonished the Sixers’ President of Basketball Operations, Daryl Morey, in China. “Daryl Morey is a liar, and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of. Let me say that again – Daryl Morey is a liar, and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of,” Harden said. The former MVP also believes it’s too late for the relationship between him and the franchise to be repaired.

The league will now be investigating the dramatic situation. According to ESPN’s report from Ramona Shelburne and Adrian Wojnarowski, “The league office is believed to be pursuing an understanding of whether Harden was portending a 2023-2024 hold out in violation of the league’s collective bargaining agreement – or had been referencing past contract discussions with the organization that might constitute salary cap circumvention, sources said.

NBA is investigating the reason behind Harden’s bold comments and move, as his statement had many speculating about a now-unoffered handshake agreement of getting a long-term maximum extension. After, he took a pay cut for the team to improve last summer. This violates the league’s rules of free agency. And the Sixers are already aware of this. Last year they violated the tampering rules while signing P.J. Tucker and Danuel House Jr. After, Harden legally gave them monetary space to sign some veterans. They lost two second-round picks for doing so.

So far, Harden hasn’t made any allegations of a handshake agreement. Some clauses from NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) can now force the All-Star guard to retire if he doesn’t attend the Sixers training camp on time. The investigation by the league may sort things out soon, or else it will be another messed-up situation for the Sixers. As they already lost the Ben Simmons trade.

NBA Twitter never disappoints with its reactions, especially when the Philadelphia 76ers are on the receiving end. The basketball world is collectively clowning the franchise and James Harden for always making wrong headlines. The front office is yet to make some successful moves. And the internet is now clowning them for all of it.

James Harden’s future, though, remains uncertain in the league. But this isn’t the first time he tries to force himself out. But bouncing off from the Sixers won’t be easy for the veteran this time. As of now, even the league is involved in it. Also, reports claim Harden has no plans or interest in joining the Sixers’ training camp.
