“Was on drugs at the time” – James Harden reveals Daryl Morey betrayed him by claiming 76ers will offer former MVP $227 million contract, NBA fans claim Philly GM was right

James Harden disclosed his disagreement with the Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations when he went against his commitment to extend a max contract to the former 76ers player. Consequently, this triggered his trade request, fostering tension between him and Morey.
After prolonged back-and-forth discussions, Harden was traded to the LA Clippers. However, his tenure with the Clippers hasn’t unfolded according to expectations, as the team currently holds a 9-10 record and occupies the 9th position in the Western Conference standings.
Morey and Harden collaborated during their stint with the Houston Rockets. When Morey transitioned to the 76ers, he persuaded Harden to join him. In August, Harden publicly denounced Morey as a “liar” when he reneged on his commitment.
James said while speaking to the Athletic:
It surprised the hell out of me, you know what I mean? I looked at it like a marriage. But instead of [Morey] having a conversation with me [about free agency] or saying, ‘All right James, we don’t want to offer you this, but we have this.’ Then we go back and forth, and that’s a dialogue. But you just ice me out? Then it’s like, you don’t respect me as much as I thought you did.
Despite being recognized as one of the NBA’s premier scorers and shooting guards, this season with the Clippers has deviated from the anticipated course, even with the inclusion of a star-studded lineup. His season statistics encompass 15.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game.
Fans react to James Harden’s claim
Harden asserted that he had been assured a max offer by the 76ers President of Basketball Operations, Daryl Morey. The failure to fulfill this commitment resulted in their current relationship.
This situation has sparked a frenzy on social media, particularly on X, where fans from various perspectives are either expressing support or criticism for the comments.
Now playing for the team he desired, James aims to conclude the controversy and shift his focus to playing ball. The expectation is for him to reclaim his peak form, driving the Clippers up the table and striving for glory. The Clippers welcome the Denver Nuggets to the Crypto.com Arena next.
