The situation in Philadelphia between James Harden and Daryl Morey might get more ugly. The President of Basketball Operations of the Philadelphia 76ers intends not to make a hasty trade after assessing Harden’s demands.
The ongoing drama with the James Harden situation is getting onto another level despite the training camps around the corner. Harden and Morey once had a great friendship, and now, it has turned sour. Things might never be the same anymore for them.
James Harden requested a trade from the 76ers in the offseason to join the LA Clippers. The saga is yet to have a conclusion, as Harden still remains a 76ers player. Morey thought that Harden tried to create pressure around this trade demand, similar to what happened with Russell Westbrook during his time with the Houston Rockets.
Sources suggest that the 76ers coach, Nick Nurse, might punish Harden for his haste and pressure for the trade. Harden’s demand created a huge buzz around the league. A report from Legion Hoops wrote, “Nick Nurse could bench Harden and let Tyrese Maxey gain experience as a primary ballhandler.”
Tyrese Maxey has massive potential. He can have more time to improve his game on the court by being the guard replacing Harden. By doing this, the 76ers management sends a message to the MVP by clearly stating the team’s priorities.

James Harden returns to training camps
Former MVP James Harden arrived on the campus of Colorado State even after his severed relations with his current team, the Philadelphia 76ers. Harden and the rest of the Sixers’ roster were scheduled to attend media day and the first day of practice on Tuesday. However, the 34-year-old did not make an appearance.
James Harden was reported to have a fruitful conversation with the head coach of the Sixers. The sixer’s coach, Nick Nurse, amidst the trade demands from Harden, said, “The whistle blew, and we got to work, He looked good, participated in a majority of it anyway. Looks like he’s physically in good shape.”
From the perspective of his teammates, the 76ers player Tobias Harris shared his views on Harden’s arrival to the camp. He said, “He’s not in here disrespecting any one of his teammates, At the end of the day, we are out here to play basketball and do our job, represent the city and help bring a championship to Philadelphia.”
Harden’s future with the Philadelphia 76ers has been uncertain since the team’s loss to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semi-finals last season. Initially set to become a free agent in the summer, James Harden exercised his $35.6 million (£29.3 million) player option to leverage his demand for a trade to the Clippers. Only time will tell if Harden leaves the 76ers like he wanted to.
