James Harden has quietly gone about his business this season so far. After all the noise in the off-season, Harden kept his head down and did what he is generally asked to do. Play high-level basketball. He has been doing that consistently this season. Tonight should have been no different. It was. Except, Harden showed out what his motivation was.

The Los Angeles Clippers were scheduled to play against the Atlanta Hawks tonight. Harden posted photos of him entering the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The caption mentioned this;

Harden mentioned Killer Mike in his quote. He later changed it to avoid getting into any controversy. This is because Killer Mike aka Michael Render was arrested after winning 3 Grammy Awards at the Clippers Crypto.com Arena.

Killer Mike swept the Grammy’s in the rap category this year with his debut solo album ‘Michael’. Moments after his historic feat, Mike was arrested by police and escorted out of the arena. The Los Angeles Police Department booked Mike with a misdemeanor assault charge. This was a result of an altercation with a security staff at the arena prior to the Grammy’s.

James Harden repping Killer Mike for his achievements and using his victory as inspiration was a fitting outcome of the game today. With the whole world talking about Mike’s arrest after possibly the greatest day of his career, Harden just added the adulations for the rap artist.

How James Harden used Killer Mike’s inspiration tonight

James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers entered the game losing only three games since the turn of the new year. That streak was up against the Hawks who themselves had won four straight. And 3 of those 4 games were against elite superstars. The Clippers headed into the game knowing the Hawks had a home-court advantage. Moreover, the Clippers were playing the Hawks as the second of their back-to-back games.

Harden used the inspiration from Killer Mike well. He put up 30 points, 8 rebounds, and 10 assists. He helped teammate Kawhi Leonard push the Clippers in the fourth quarter to drag out the win. The Clippers fought off a late charge from Trae Young and the Hawks to hold on to their 6th win out of 7 on the road.

Killer Mike’s haul of Grammys was inspirational. Harden used it to overcome tiredness to win another game for the Clippers.
