James Harden took a $15 million pay cut last season with the intention of helping his team, the Philadelphia 76ers. It was to bolster their roster and increase their chances of winning the championship. The Philadelphia 76ers signed P.J. Tucker to a three-year, $33.2 million contract with the aim of strengthening their team. However, the 76ers fell short of their goal as they once again faced elimination in the second round of the playoffs, losing to the Boston Celtics.

Harden had not envisioned this outcome, as the 76ers front office had assured him of a max contract extension. However, after the season concluded, the 76ers informed Harden that they did not see a future with the former MVP. This news left Harden upset, prompting him to exercise his $35.6 million player option and request a trade from the 76ers.

Sam Amick of The Athletic reported that Harden has a ‘determined’ mindset to join the Clippers and establish a trio alongside Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Additionally, sources have indicated that Harden expresses dissatisfaction with the handling of his free agency by 76ers GM Daryl Morey.

Notably, observers spotted Harden in Las Vegas recently, where former Sixers owner Michael Rubin organized a high-profile Fourth of July white party. Amick said, “Harden’s stance has not changed, a source close to him told The Athletic. He still wants to leave Philadelphia. He’s still upset with how Morey handled his situation heading into possible free agency last month.”

He added, “And even with the recent revelation that Harden attended the same NBPA party as Sixers co-star Joel Embiid and former Sixers owner Michael Rubin in Vegas he’s still determined to start next season in a Clippers jersey.”

NBA players go through a tough and excruciating season, and as it ends, they take their foot off the accelerator and take a break. It is normal for the players to get out of shape for a bit, but they always work hard to get back in shape before the training camp.

Recently, fans took the opportunity to troll James Harden when they saw him partying with entrepreneur Michael Rubin at Tao Las Vegas. They criticized Harden for being out of shape and not putting in the effort to secure a big contract extension.

It is not James Harden’s nature to be one of those players who, when unhappy with a team, makes sure the team knows it. In the past, he has come to training camp and even started the season out of shape in order to force them to trade him. When Harden wanted to be traded from Brooklyn, he no longer put forth effort on the court. Considering his record, it is very possible that Harden will find his way once again, and the Clippers will trade for him.
