James Harden put on a show in Boston against the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. The Philadelphia 76ers clinched Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, 119-115. The credit for this win singlehandedly went to the star of the game, James Harden, who put on a 45-point performance. With his 45-point performance, he tied his playoffs career high as he led the team to a victory despite Joel Embiid’s absence.
Joel Embiid didn’t play in Game 1 against the Celtics as he remains out injured. This was all thanks to James Harden’s performance which was deemed better than Stephen Curry’s 50-point game against the Grizzlies. Harden scored 45 points, six assists, and one rebound, going 17-30 in field goals and shooting 50% 3-pointers! The closest anyone came to Harden was Tyrese Maxey, with 26 points, two assists, and one rebound. Tobias Harris and De’Anthony Melton followed with 18 and 17 points, respectively.
For the Celtics, Jayson Tatum led the way, scoring 39 points, five assists, and 11 rebounds. Jaylen Brown followed with 23 points, four assists, and six rebounds. Malcolm Brogdon came close third with 20 points, three assists, and three rebounds to his name. All of this, to still fall short of getting the dub due to Harden’s stunning performance.
Fans on Twitter went crazy after Harden’s career-high playoff performance, comparing it to that of Stephen Curry. Curry scored 50 points against the Sacramento Kings in Game 7 in a do-or-die situation, carrying his team to the win. While the opinion was debated, Harden’s performance was still hailed as the better one on Twitter.

Right sometime before the game began, NBA Pundits discussed the possibility of James Harden carrying the team in Embiid’s absence. The consensus was that no one believed Harden could pull it off. They laughed it off and ridiculed “The Beard” but eventually ended up being proven wrong.
Harden’s performance is one for the ages, and the Sixers will hope for him to carry it throughout the series. Embiid’s absence doesn’t seem to be much of an issue for the team if Harden continues to play like this. Look at some of the fan reactions to Harden’s performance.
James Harden seems to be in a different zone of focus this time. The player was spotted rushing his team to the locker room right after the game, saying the job wasn’t done yet. It will be interesting to see how Harden performs in the games coming next. Stay tuned!
