“TD Garden is not an arena, but a barn” James Worthy believes Celtics fans are still up to old trick of CHEATING

The Boston Celtics hosted the Golden State Warriors in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, and something strange happened before tip-off. The rim was two inches higher than usual, and James Worthy, a Hall of Famer, feels the Celtics are up to their old tricks. During practice, Golden State players noticed the variation in height and informed officials. The basket was measured using a 10-foot wooden pole, which confirmed that it was a couple of inches too high and the situation was later immediately rectified.

It is not uncommon for Celtics to try to “cheat”, according to Worthy, who has a long-running animosity with the team. The veteran of Los Angeles Lakers recalled his visit to the arena and had nothing but negative things to say about it. Worthy also stated that TD Garden is one of the most difficult places to play in, particularly during the NBA Finals.

Stephen Curry’s 43 point outburst helps Warriors take the W at TD Garden

Stephen Curry’s dagger three with less than two minutes remaining silenced a TD Garden that was usually loud, energetic, and high-intensified. The 3 pointer pushed Golden State’s lead to six points, and the Warriors held on for a 107-97 victory behind Curry’s historic 43-point double-double. Golden State will have homecourt advantage for the rest of the series, and the Warriors will need everything but silent fans to help them earn a 3-2 series lead and a step closer to their fourth title in eight years.

On Spectrum Sportsnet, James Worthy said: “They have been doing it for years, I don’t know how many games we played with 12-foot rims, probably that time I went 1-for-12.” He also added that the Celtics supposedly changed a few things: “They cheat, no heat in the winter, no air conditioning in June. It’s hot, except for their locker room, it was just the worst.” Worthy also stated that TD Garden is one of the most difficult arenas to play in, particularly during the NBA Finals. Worthy faced Boston in three finals, and it was always a heated matchup where the Lakers won two of those three meetings, with both series ending in six games and Worthy emerging as the FMVP in 1988.

Reaching the finals is an accomplishment by itself, but Boston is hell-bent on winning the championship. The series is now tied at 2-2, with neither team being able to gain a significant lead. If they win at Chase Center, they will be able to wrap out the series in front of their home crowd. It’s worth noting, however, that TD Garden hasn’t exactly been a fortress so far in this.
