LeBron James has made his first appearance in media after a very long time. With all that is happening around the Los Angeles Lakers and them trying to regain championship contention, the King has been spending time with his family and training this off-season. His recent comments on one of his peers had the entire world questioning him.
After several players broke silence on Brittney Griner’s arrest, James was caught saying these words in a trailer. He said, “Now, how could she feel like America has her back? I would be feeling like,‘ do I even want to go back to America?’” NBA fans started to speculate that he was expressing hate towards the country.

Among the criticisms was Jason Whitlock who had a very deep take on what LeBron James had to say. Just like the sports journalist, many others have also spoken about Bron being a hypocrite. “I’m telling you I have not always passionately disliked LeBron James. He’s earned this. Year after year, victim statement, dumb statement after dumb statement… y’all think LeBron is Muhammad Ali and a freedom fighter?”

That’s not a genuine commitment, that’s good PR.” This is not the first time the King has been called a puppet to China and Nike, Enes Kanter Freedom has also called him out multiple times.
LeBron James defends his comments on Brittney Griner’s arrest
It is a very unfortunate case for Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner who has been held up by the Russian authority for 130+ days. There has not been much progress in her trial as she recently pleaded guilty during his first hearing. LeBron James was the most silent for the longest time unlike several of his fellow NBA players.
After receiving a lot of heat, he responded with a tweet saying, “My comments on, “The Shop” regarding Brittney Griner wasn’t knocking our beautiful country. I was simply saying how she’s probably feeling emotionally along with so many other emotions, thoughts, etc inside that cage she’s been in for over 100+! Long story short. #BringHerHome.”
