Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics have reached a historic agreement, as they are set to sign a supermax extension, making it the most lucrative contract in NBA history. The new five-year deal, worth an astounding $304 million dollars, solidifies Brown’s future with the team until the 2028-29 season.
During a news conference at the MIT Media Lab in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Brown expressed his intentions to use his historic NBA deal to address wealth disparity in Boston, which ranks among the top five in the United States. He aims to leverage his influence and platform to improve the overall economy, reduce the wealth gap, and bring a Black Wall Street initiative to Boston.
“I want to launch a project to bring Black Wall Street here to Boston, I want to attack the wealth disparity here,” Brown said. “I think there’s analytics that support that stimulating the wealth gap could actually be something that could be betterment for the entire economy. With the biggest financial deal in NBA history, it makes sense to talk about one, your investment in community, but two also, the wealth disparity here that nobody wants to talk about. It’s top five in the U.S., it’s something that we can all improve on.”
Brown has already made significant efforts to improve the lives of people by giving back to the community. One of the initiatives of his 7uice foundation is providing children from underprivileged communities in Boston with opportunities in the field of science and technology. The foundation has partnered with MIT Media Lab, where Brown, surrounded by his family and friends, penned his new contract.

The NBA Twitter community didn’t buy into Jaylen Brown’s intentions when he expressed his desire to use the influence and money from the richest deal in NBA history for the betterment of the people of Boston and to help bring back Black Wall Street. Here are some reactions to Brown’s post-signing press conference:
Given his contract’s worth, exceeding that of players like Nikola Jokic and Stephen Curry, there will be high expectations set on Brown.
