Jaylen Brown trade rumors: Kendrick Perkins CONVINCED Celtics star set to leave Boston in the summer
Why Jaylen Brown might want out of Boston and which teams could trade for him?

The Boston Celtics have been struggling to find their identity this season, and their star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown has not been able to lift them out of mediocrity. Brown, who is averaging a career-high 26.7 points per game, has been hearing his name in trade talks for a while, and former Celtics big man Kendrick Perkins thinks that he is ready to move on from Boston.
Perkins, who won a championship with the Celtics in 2008, shared his thoughts on Brown’s situation on his podcast “Road Trippin’ Show”. He said that Brown has been sending signals that he is unhappy with the organization and the fan base and that he feels undervalued by being constantly mentioned in trade talks. Perkins said on his YouTube show that Brown is showing him “all the signs” that he is unhappy with the organization and the fan base. Perkins pointed to Brown’s comments about his value and his name being in trade rumors every year as indicators that he is looking for a new team.
“He is giving me all the signs that he wants out of Boston… whether it’s him addressing the fan base whether it’s him basically talking about let’s see how much the organization really value me because my name is in trade rumors every single year,” Perkins said.
Perkins also noted that the Celtics lost two key coaches in Ime Udoka and Damon Stoudemire, who were close to Brown and Tatum. Udoka left to become the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, while Stoudemire joined him as an assistant. Perkins said that those departures could affect Brown’s loyalty to the Celtics.
“And not only do you lose Ime Udoka, you also lose Damon Stoudemire who was kind of like that real one that they could come to him or he could kind of be like, ‘Hey man stop fcking around, you bullshtting’ He’s not on that bench no more,” Perkins said
Which teams are eyeing Jaylen Brown?

If Brown does want to leave Boston, or if the Celtics decide to trade him for a better fit, there will be plenty of teams lining up for his services. According to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, several teams in the Western Conference are interested in acquiring Brown this summer. Fischer reported that the Sacramento Kings, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Houston Rockets will be among the teams that will pursue Brown in the offseason.
All three teams are rebuilding and are looking for a young star to lead them. The Kings have a talented backcourt with De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton, but they need a wing scorer and defender like Brown. The Thunder have a plethora of draft picks and young players that they could offer for Brown, who would pair well with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Rockets have their own young core with Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, and Jabari Smith Jr., but they could use a proven All-Star like Brown to accelerate their timeline.
Brown is under contract with the Celtics until 2024, so they have no urgency to trade him unless they get an offer that blows them away. However, if Brown is unhappy or if the team continues to underperform, they might have to consider their options. Trading Brown would be a risky move for the Celtics, but it could also be a necessary one to improve their roster and their future.
