In recent seasons, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics, as two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, have cultivated a fierce rivalry. Led by Joel Embiid and Jayson Tatum, these teams have clashed in the playoffs thrice, with the Celtics prevailing each time. Given the Celtics’ impressive record against the Sixers, Tatum has confidently questioned whether the 76ers can challenge the Celtics in their hunt for an NBA title.

In a recent episode of Kevin Hart‘s “Cold as Balls” show, the comedian had Celtics superstar Tatum as a guest. Hart hilariously stated how his 76ers can get in the way of Tatum and Celtics’ championship aspirations. In response, the Celtics star questioned the validity of that claim.

“One thing that stands in the way of that, of course, the Philadelphia 76ers,” Hart said. To this, Tatum responded, “Do they?”. The comedian playfully retracted his statement and said, “We will. Eventually.”

While the Sixers have struggled in the playoffs against the Celtics in recent years, they came close to breaking the curse in the second round of the last playoffs. Following an impressive win in Game 5 at TD Garden, the Sixers held a 3-2 series lead as they headed back home. With the Sixers eyeing to finish the job in Philly, Tatum stepped up for the Celtics, scoring 11 points in the final minute of the fourth quarter to force a Game 7.

In Game 7, it was once again the Tatum show, with a dominant performance where he scored 51 points. Tatum made an impressive 17-of-28 shots, including 6-of-10 from beyond the arc, and also contributed with 13 rebounds and 5 assists.

Hart wasted no time in responding to the Celtics star, posting an Instagram video in which he appeared visibly disappointed with his 76ers being out of the playoffs. However, Hart made sure to credit Tatum where it was due, applauding his remarkable 51-point performance.

“All right, I’m hurt,” Hart said. “The world knows it. I don’t have to hide it. But, I’m not a sore loser. It’s not about how you win, it’s how you lose, and I’m going to lose like a man … Jayson Tatum, I hate it but I have to give you the props. I gotta congratulate you, my friend. You are the true competitor that you proved to be today. You showed up. You showed out.”

Despite the fierce rivalry between Tatum and the Celtics and Hart’s hometown team, they have developed a great dynamic, as evident in the hilarious segment of Hart’s “Cold as Balls.”
