Jayson Tatum does ‘lot of complaining like Caitlin Clark’, says Hawks announcer in sly jibe towards stars
The Boston Celtics lost in embarrassing style against the Atlanta Hawks.
Atlanta Hawks commentator takes a jibe at Jayson Tatum's complaining, referencing it to Caitlin Clark, as the Boston Celtics lose
The Atlanta Hawks rallied back from a 30-point deficit en route to a famous win against the NBA-leading Boston Celtics. And during that rally, Jayson Tatum tried to stop Dejounte Murray, but was called for a foul. When he complained to the referees, the Hawks announcer took a jab at Tatum calling out his complaining, while referencing Caitlin Clark.
Bogdan Bogdanovic passed the ball to Dejounte Murray with 2 minutes left in the game. Murray tried to spin out of the defensive stance Jayson Tatum set up, only for Tatum to hit Murray’s hand. This brought out a foul call from the referee.
When the MVP candidate complained to the referees, the Hawks announcer said this:
Boy, Jayson Tatum does a lot of complaining. Who does he think he is, Caitlin Clark? The Hawks announcer said
This reference to Caitlin Clark was when her father shouted at her to shut up and continue playing rather than complaining to the referees. The Hawks announcer seemingly took a jibe at both superstars.
Clark was constantly complaining to the referees during the Iowa Hawkeyes game against Holy Cross in their first-round NCAA March Madness matchup. This led to Brent Clark shouting at his daughter from the stands, asking her to shut up.
Jayson Tatum’s complaining seemed like a result of frustrations, as the Hawks sliced their deficit. The Hawks announcer’s comments made it sound as if Tatum isn’t a big enough star as compared to the all-time leading scorer in NCAA history. And it was also a jibe at Clark’s nonstop complaining to get her way.
Jayson Tatum and Boston Celtics lose awfully to undermanned Atlanta Hawks
The Boston Celtics felt that they had the game in the bag in the first half. The 30-point lead suggested that the superstar-laden squad had nothing to worry about even if the Atlanta Hawks mounted a rally. Their thought process was not wrong, as the Hawks were playing without superstar Trae Young as well as a couple of other crucial players.
The Hawks started a rally, that demolished that deficit to bring the Hawks within 3 points in the 3rd quarter. They went toe to toe with the league leaders until the end of the 4th quarter. Clint Capela grabbed a crucial offensive rebound and passed it to De’Andre Hunter who scored the game-winning 3-pointer.
Maybe Jayson Tatum felt that the momentum was swinging in the favor of the Atlanta Hawks. And that led him to complain about the foul to try and get the referees on his side. But according to the commentator, it sure looked like he was trying to emulate Caitlin Clark in the process.
