Jayson Tatum made history on Sunday night by becoming the first-ever recipient of the Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP award, after an emphatic 4-3 series victory over Miami Heat. It was a well-deserved honor for the Celtics superstar after spearheading his team to the NBA Finals following an epic seven-game series against the Miami Heat.

The Celtics stalwart, Bill Russell, was ecstatic to congratulate Boston for their stellar achievement. The Hall of Fame big man also issued a final hurdle for Tatum as they prepare to face off against the mighty Warriors in the NBA Finals.

“Congratulations to the Eastern Conference Finals champions Celtics & to Jayson Tatum for receiving the 1st ever Larry Bird ECF MVP award. Maybe soon the Bill Russell Finals MVP award” Bill Russel tweeted.

Tatum and Brown live for Game 7s, they drowned Milwaukee Bucks in the previous rounds and now they have bested Miami Heat in a Game of 7. Boston have steered their ship to the NBA Finals, with Jayson Tatum at its helm as he averaged 25 points per game on 46% shooting from the field to go with 8.3 rebounds and 5.6 assists.

Tatum winning multiple postseason MVP awards named after legendary Celtics players certainly would be a storybook ending to his season. Russell who won a World Record 11 NBA titles with the Celtics, knows that the job isn’t finished yet. It takes a lot of blood and sweat to reach the Finals, but in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter unless you cash in and grab the ultimate prize.

Bill would love to watch Tatum take a monumental step in his career by being the best player in the NBA Finals. It’s an undeniably daunting task against Stephen Curry and Co., but it is clear that Mr. Russell has all the confidence in the world in Tatum and his Celtics

It’s a tough pill to swallow for Miami and for Butler, after they got so close and yet so far of the NBA Finals. It was Jayson Tatum’s playmaking, a much-improved skill we’ve seen from him this season, that led to open 3s in the corners for Boston. You could see all the improvements these core guys have been working on over the years paying off in the biggest game of their careers tonight, and it just so happened to lead to a spot in the NBA Finals. What stand between Tatum and glory is Stephen Curry and company, who will stand tall in the NBA Finals ! History awaits.
