REPORT: Jeanie Buss condemns letting go of future assets to rebuild the current dysfunctional roster

The Los Angeles Lakers owner and president Jeanie Buss has come under fire from the team’s fan base for the past year or two for her refusal to use the future round picks available and not wanting to bring help to Lebron James in his final few years in the league.

“However, according to a Western Conference executive who spoke with Heavy On Sports’ Sean Deveney under the condition of anonymity, the Lakers are unlikely to trade away their future in order to improve the current iteration of their roster, a move which Jeanie Buss supports,” Heavy.com’s Adam Taylor wrote.

The  Lakers have first-round picks in the NBA drafts of 2027 and 2029 that they might use to make a trade, but it seems unlikely that they will do so with Jeanie Buss’ backing. LeBron James, the main player for the Los Angeles Lakers is putting together another All-NBA season at the age of 38. But the Lakers don’t want to risk the future of the organization in order to succeed this year.

Los Angeles stands on the No. 13 ranking in the conference but is only 2.5 games behind the No. 6 seed. LA is still very much in the mix for the Western Conference playoffs. The 2022–23 Lakers season may only require fans to accept that their team’s success will depend on how far James can take them.

Jeanie Buss and Lakers expected to turn things around as Anthony Davis makes a comeback

The elite big man for Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony Davis is on track to return to the court before the All-Star break next month after advancing his recovery from a foot injury that kept him off the court for the whole previous month.

Before suffering an injury in December, Davis was in excellent form. Although the Lakers were able to win five games in a row without him, they lost the following three before tightly defeating the Houston Rockets, the worst team in the league, on Monday night. This was a result of the Lakers’ complete reliance on their Big 3.

“Anthony Davis is expected to start running now, so once that happens and he is back running on the floor at full speed, at that point, he is going to progress to contact work in the relatively near future,”  Shams Charania told FanDuel TV. He continued, “I’m told the hope is Anthony Davis is going to be able to get back out on the floor with a handful of games left before the All-Star break. That puts you in early February for a potential return for Anthony Davis to get back out on the floor.”
