Recently, Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss revealed a lot about her father, Dr. Jerry Buss and his friendship with LA Lakers legend Magic Johnson. She was talking in the fourth episode of Hulu’s ten-part docuseries, Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers where she mentioned that when in 1991, LA Lakers star player Magic Johnson announced his retirement was only the second time she saw Dr. Buss cry.

Jeanie Buss said, “They found SOULMATES in each other.” Magic Johnson had contracted HIV which forced him to retire early in his career. Back then, there was very little knowledge about the disease and hence it was a heavy setback for Magic. He was integral part of the LA Lakers’ success upon Buss buying the team and forming the Lakers’ ‘Showtime’ era dynasty in 1980s when they won five NBA championships.

Dr. Buss treated Johnson like his son. Buss made sure that he felt like his home, when Magic joined LA Lakers for the first time. The former Lakers owner would often show him around, take him to parties, watch football games, and do other activities. Johnson and Dr. Buss shared a solid friendship ever since they met. The latter also helped the former grow as a businessman for years after his retirement.

Are Los Angeles Lakers planning to trade Anthony Davis to Golden State Warriors?

There are rumors that the NBA team Los Angeles Lakers might possibly off-load forward-center Anthony Davis from the team as they were unsuccessful in finding a new home for Russell Westbrook as his trade is expiring and unreasonably high $47.1 million contract is dying down. Davis has mostly been marred with injuries and hence, lost lot of game-time. Last season, LA Lakers suffered badly in his absence. Anthony Davis joining Golden State Warriors is not a new thing. Even in the midst of the Westbrook’s trade demands while with the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2018-19 season, the possibility of Anthony Davis joining Stephen Curry had been discussed quite a lot of time.  It still seems difficult that Lakers trade Davis and keeping Russell will be a huge mistake at least for them this season.
