“We have to be competitive” Jeanie Buss’ stern warning to the Lakers ahead of 2022-23 season

Jeanie Buss
Jeanie Buss and the Los Angeles Lakers are back in the business and look serious after having a terrible time last season. The team was stacked with superstars and future Hall of Famers but nothing really worked for them and they were just disappointing to everyone around. As they were expected to lift the championship last season but they didn’t even make it to the play-in tournament. Jeanie Buss though was criticized and trolled throughout the struggling time as fans blamed her for the failure they were spectating. But she didn’t give up as she wasn’t the right person to blame and it was the front office who has the team stuck in the mess. Till the day she owns the team and is sticking to her role of being a good owner and trying to do everything she can to get the team back where they belong.

Jeanie Buss in a recent interview of her made it very clear that changes are going to come and the Lakers as a team will have to get better. She has taken the responsibility and now has some heavy shoulders. As it isn’t really going to be an easy road while fixing the changes needed. The Big Three of the Lakers of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook is going to be the biggest obstacle on Jeanie Buss’ road to success. As even after scapegoating and blaming them still there’s no solution around their starting line-up.
Jeanie Buss though is being honest while discussing the situation. As the front office has already started working and getting the job done. As they are making necessary changes in the roster while adding some young guns to be more flexible with many new faces on the coaching staff. They have also decided to experiment around their new boys and develop them into better players who’ll be able to carry them across in the future when the superstars won’t be around the franchise.

Jeanie Buss’ warning to the Lakers

Jeanie Buss discussing the whole situation and the expectations with regard to changes if necessary quoted: “It’s on me to provide the Laker fans the product they’re used to seeing. They want to see great Lakers basketball. Nobody in my position can promise a championship every year. It’s really hard to put all the pieces together, avoid injuries and get to the top. But you can’t start the journey if you’re not even invited to the dance and you’re not in the playoffs. We have to get there. That’s up to the coaching staff and up to the players. We give them all of the tools they need to be successful.”

Jeanie Buss speaking about the competition and the tough and rough road the Lakers are going to have added: “I fully expect us to be competitive…The Western Conference is tough and includes the new NBA champions, the Golden State Warriors. Hats off to them. They’ve set a standard of excellence in the league. It’s up to us to raise our game to compete. I expect us to be competitive in our conference.” She has brought back hope for the fans as they believe in her and now are waiting for the season to start. So they can enjoy some Great Lakers Basketball again but that all depends upon the players, coaching staff and especially the front office and the work they put in to improve and get better during the offseason. As it’s all about them and not the owner Jeanie Buss.
