In a recent interview with NBA TV, Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler stated that he would not attend the Hall of Fame ceremony if he were inducted into it. The 33-year-old has an exceptional resume and could very well be inducted into the prestigious Basketball HOF once he retires. If the Heat somehow manage to make a comeback in the NBA Finals and win the championship, he could cement his place in there.
Butler has not been able to be extremely influential in the Finals so far. He has averaged 21.8 PPG, 6.8 APG, and 5.0 APG on 44.6% shooting. Although these may not look like concerning numbers, Butler has struggled to anchor his troops in the Finals. His comments on not going to the Hall of Fame were controversial. Speaking about the Hall of Fame, Jimmy Butler said, “Honestly speaking couldn’t care less, if we’re being brutally honest, if I was selected into the Hall of Fame, I’m not going.”
He further explained why he wouldn’t be interested in going to the Hall of Fame ceremony, “It’s an individual thing, I’m not for individual type stuff, I’m really not, I’m like a team guy… I’m not worried about the Hall of Fame, so I promise you, it’s an honor it is, but I could care less,” said Butler. Having made it to two NBA Finals, Six All-Star games, and 5 All-NBA Teams, Butler has everything on his resume except for a championship. The Miami Heat are certainly gunning to win one soon and if that happens, it will be interesting to see if Butler changes his mind.

Butler’s dip in form in the playoffs has been a big matter of concern for many fans. Despite the team being down 3-1, Butler has seemed confident in the Heat and their chances. However, after every passing game, fans have expressed their woes in the Heat star’s run of form. His recent comments on not going to the Hall of Fame ceremony if he was elected certainly did not sit well among a lot of fans.
