Jimmy Butler is having one of the most phenomenal playoff runs of his career. He has been in excellent touch and has led the Miami Heat to the Western Conference Semi-Finals. The Heat have lost only one game in the series against the New York Knicks. The only game Butler missed was due to an ankle sprain. Going into Game 4, Miami had a 2-1 series lead. Playing at home, the Heat took advantage of their home court and crowd and extended it to 3-1. Thanks to another Jimmy Butler 27-point special.
Butler scored an impressive 27 points playing over 41 minutes. He also put up six rebounds and 10 assists on his stat line as he was, yet again, the best player for Miami. However, he had Bam Adebayo giving him great support with 23 points, 13 rebounds, and two assists. Jalen Brunson had a rather excellent game for the New York Knicks with 32 points. However, his efforts weren’t enough as the home side won the contest 101-109.
Certainly, Jimmy Butler would feel on top of the world after a performance like that. After all, due to his heroics, the Heat have managed to come so far in the playoffs after the Play-In tournament. David Ramil, the host of the podcast “Locked on Heat,” revealed how Butler views himself after the Heat’s Game 3 win on Saturday.
“I was walking back and Jimmy was heading into the locker room,” he started. “He had some choice words to say about… his status overall,” he said, talking about his interaction with the Heat guard. When asked what he heard Butler say, Ramil revealed, “I’m the best f—ing player in the world. Double teams, triple teams, it don’t matter.”
How are the Miami Heat shaping up?
The Miami Heat are having one of their greatest playoff run. After having to clinch the eighth seed in the Play-In tournament, Miami faced the Milwaukee Bucks. Led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks were the number-one seed in the East. However, Jimmy Butler led his side to blow out Milwaukee as they handed them a huge 4-1 first-round upset.
Their formidable run continued in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, where they’re currently playing the New York Knicks. As the rivalry between the two sides intensified, Miami took their impressive record in their favor. They lost just one game in the unfortunate absence of their star guard. However, since his return, they’ve managed to win both home games and now have a 3-1 series lead.
Miami and New York will now face each other in Game 5 on May 10th (US). While Butler and the Heat will look to seal the series, NY will believe they still have a chance. Although not many teams have made a comeback from a 3-1 deficit, Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle have done well to keep the Knicks a competitive side. As of now, both teams are headed back to Madison Square Garden. The Knicks will look to take it one game at a time and first defend their home court with their back against the wall.
