“We still the better team!” Jimmy Butler doubles down on bold claim despite defeat to New Orleans Pelicans

Miami Heat dropped their home game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night, 111-88, in a rather dismal outing. Heat have now only won four of their last ten games, which has made things extremely difficult. Jimmy Butler, the Heat’s savior, openly acknowledged his sadness over the loss to the visitors after the game, yet continued to firmly believe that they are still the better team, as he stated after the game.

Jimmy Butler isn’t going back on his remarks from the team’s victory over the New Orleans Pelicans last month. The fire had been scorching since the Heat defeated the Pelicans 106-95 on game night on February 23. Butler projected that in the upcoming faceoff, the Heat would defeat the Pelicans. However, despite yesterday’s defeat, the 34-year-old star still stuck to his earlier comments.

I hope it added fuel to the fire. They had a great game plan, they made shots and they came in here and stole on. But I am gonna stick by what I said, We are still the better team. Can't win them all. We damm sure should have won that one, but we will be alright.

The prediction flopped because the Heat lost their most recent game in front of their home crowd. The six-time NBA all-star has a habit of making fun of players and talking trash both before and after the game. Even though it didn’t work out this time, Butler made another big prediction at the beginning of March:

I am just different.

Given the Miami Heat’s present playing circumstances, Jimmy Butler’s “I am just different” prediction is in jeopardy

The Miami Heat, who are now ranked seventh in the Eastern Conference, has not played well over the past month. It’s almost time for Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat to return to their best basketball form as the NBA playoffs draw near. Following his disastrous prediction yesterday, “I am just different” has become the talk of the town again.

Speaking in the Post-match interview with Bleacher Report, Jimmy Butler said:

I am just different. I think this is when you are supposed to be playing your best basketball and you have to find a way to get to win these games when you are talking about the playoffs coming around.

Butler’s status as a playoff standout gave rise to the title “playoff Jimmy”. Butler has guided his team to multiple successful postseason campaigns since moving back to Miami in 2019, including an NBA Finals participation the previous year. There is just one month left before the playoffs, and everyone wants the Heat—especially Butler, the team leader—to take things seriously.
