Jimmy Butler joins elite company with consecutive 30 point playoff games
Jimmy Butler was the lone warrior standing, defending Miami’s crest from the onslaught of the Philadelphia 76ers. Miami Heat eventually caved to the Batman and The Beard, as the series now sits evenly poised at 2-2. Miami suffered a 116-108 loss at Fargo Centre in Philadelphia despite Jimmy Butler popping off with 40 points on 13 of 20 shooting from the floor, putting up a resilient fight in vain. Jimmy dropped 33 points in Game 3 and has been playing in true superstar form while his teammates have been struggling lately.
6 Philadelphia players scored in double-figures, and they were led by James Harden, who scored 16 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter while Embiid dropped 24. Jimmy Butler was about the only offense the Heat have had in their two games in Philadelphia. Butler’s performances could not snatch victory for Miami, however it did secure him a couple of places in the franchise’s record books. His second consecutive game of at least 30 points puts him on a three-man list with Miami Heat legends LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Jimmy Butler had a pretty impressive outing last night, individually. After averaging 21.4 points per game in the regular season, Butler is at nearly 30 in the playoffs. He scored just under 40% of Miami’s points in the two games played in Philadelphia. Butler scored 30+ points in consecutive playoff games for the first time in his career. He became only the 3rd player in Miami Heat’s history, after LeBron James and Dwayne Wayde themselves to achieve this terrific feat.
Jimmy Butler was also able to surpass a milestone that LeBron James could not get past in his 4-year illustrious career at Miami. The Heat star recorded his fourth 40-point playoff game in a Heat shirt, which is one more than King James had in his Miami postseason career and just three shy of Dwayne Wade’s career mark.
What makes the feat even more impressive is that Jimmy Butler tallied his four 40-point outings in just 33 career playoff games with the Heat. He passed LeBron, who had close to thrice of Butler’s chances at 87 career playoff games while Dwyane Wade had nearly double that at 171 opportunities. It’s evident that Jimmy Butler has been monumental for the Miami Heat, the rest of the roster needs to step up to support him as they eye returning to the NBA finals.
The Heat will be looing to strike back at home court in Miami with a commanding all-round performance from the team, to subdue the momentum of the 76ers. Its friends turned foes in Game 5 as Butler faces off against Joel Embiid, his former Philadelphia teammate. One will survive and one will perish, its all to play for in Game 5 !
