Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat shocked Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks with an incredible fourth-quarter rally and beat them 119-114 to extend their series lead to 3-1. The team now stands on the verge of winning the series in Game 5 and ruining the Bucks’ championship aspirations.
Butler dropped a playoff career-high 56 points to guide the Heat to the brink of a surprise series win over the heavily-favored Bucks. The Miami ace was interviewed by courtside right after winning the game against the Bucks and was asked a question about the MVP ringing around the arena during his masterful performance. Butler saw the opportunity to rub more salt in Antetokounmpo’s wounds and did so with his answer.
Butler said, “I don’t know about MVP, I think it’s Joel (Embiid), if I’m being brutally honest.” Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic are the three frontrunners to win the NBA MVP award. The Heat star has laid his claim on who deserves to win the coveted prize and it just so happens to be the player that is the biggest rival of the superstar he’s trying to defeat and advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Embiid also paid homage to Butler for his incredible performance with a tweet.

Jimmy Butler and Heat leave Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bucks on brink of elimination

Butler’s performance will go down in history as one of the finest in playoff history. He scored 56 points, grabbed nine rebounds, dished two assists, and blocked one shot. He shot 19 out of 28 from the field, three out of eight from three-point range, and made 15 out of 18 free throws. His 56 points set a new Heat postseason record, surpassing the likes of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Shaquille O’Neal.
In terms of single-game scoring efforts in playoff history, Butler’s 56 points tie him with Charles Barkley for the fourth-highest, trailing Michael Jordan (63), Elgin Baylor (61), and Donovan Mitchell (57).
Butler’s teammates also contributed heavily to the win. Bam Adebayo had 15 points, KZ Okpala added 12 points, and Gabe Vincent had 10 points. It was clear that their roles were strictly supportive of Butler’s outstanding performance.
The Heat’s win prevented Giannis Antetokounmpo from leading the Milwaukee Bucks to victory. He finished with 26 points, 13 assists, and 10 rebounds while shooting 12 of 22 from the field. Brook Lopez was the star of the show for his team with 36 points and 11 rebounds. Khris Middleton struggled to find his rhythm, scoring 14 points on 4-of-12 shooting and fouling out during the Heat’s late run.
The Bucks are now in a do-or-die situation and will face the Heat again on Thursday!
