Jimmy Butler and Joel Embiid

Jimmy Butler and Joel Embiid are former teammates and one of the best mates around the league. As after parting ways with the Philadelphia 76ers and moving on to lead the Miami Heat Jimmy Butler said that he loves Joel Embiid to death and always keeps talking to him. But as a team things just didn’t really age that well between them and the franchise so a split up was necessary. Now both of them are established players and franchise stars for their respective teams and will be going against each other soon as the eastern conference semi-finals are about, to begin with the clash of Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat. But unfortunately, the Sixer’s big guy is not scheduled to be a part of the clash after he suffered a facial injury during their Game 6 win against the Toronto Raptors.

With three minutes and fifty-eight seconds remaining and the Philadelphia 76ers leading the game with the score of 119-90. Pascal Siakam driving in with a euro-step blew the face of Joel Embiid who was trying to contest him and stop the play but thanks to Doc Rivers who had him in unnecessarily. That blow got him a right orbital fracture as that’s what a strong elbow to the face does. There’s no schedule for his return out yet with hopes of him getting well and back soon. Even Jimmy Butler wants him on the court as he isn’t someone to ride a soft bus on an easy road.

The seven-game series between Miami and Philadelphia is surely one of the most entertaining ones as it is very unpredictable when you have MVP calibre player around. But with Joel Embiid being out it just makes it very easy for the Jimmy Butler-led squad to win it all as the rivals get small in size and out of a controller. So in a recent interview of his, he gave his regards to the healing Joel Embiid.

Jimmy Butler discussing Joel Embiid’s injury quoted: “I’m not an analytics guy, but I was told that they’re a much better team whenever he’s on the floor. And that should be. The way that he draws double, triple, quadruple, I think it’s called ‘quint’ teams, as in all five guys are guarding him. And he makes the right plays as well. But he’s been doing this for a long time. He’d get my vote for MVP. It’s going to be a challenge, but they beat us once without him. I feel bad for my guy. Obviously, my former teammate, is arguably the MVP of this league. I think I speak for everybody that’s a part of this team, we want Joel to play. We want to go up against them at full strength and prove that we can beat anybody. I hope he recovers well and gets back very, very soon.”

Jimmy Butler not only felt for the injury but also rooted for him to win the MVP award over Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikol Jokic. In the absence of Joel Embiid, the pressure arises on James Harden and Tyrese Maxey to run the offensive end while standing strong on the defensive one against Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo as they have been doing some serious business since the postseason has started. Miami Heat will be hosting the Philadelphia 76ers at FTX Arena for Game 1 of the series on 2nd May, Monday.
