JJ Franks, a seventh grader from North Dakota, achieved an extraordinary feat when he channeled his inner Steph Curry and Damian Lillard. He made a layup, aced a free throw, and nailed a three-pointer, stunning the crowd. Franks then amazed everyone by sinking a half-court shot, securing a whopping $10,000 grand prize.

When the 13-year-old made the final basket during halftime at his school’s varsity home game, the school gym erupted with excitement. Thrilled spectators rushed to the court to congratulate him.

JJ, who also plays 7th and 8th grade basketball for Bishop Ryan Catholic School in Minot, described the experience as “overwhelming” and admitted he didn’t expect to win. The school’s website states that all fans attending home basketball games have the opportunity to enter the “$10,000 Gatorade Halftime Shootout,” but only one ticket is drawn for the chance to shoot for the $10,000 cash prize.

The selected individual would need to successfully make a layup, free throw, three-pointer, and half-court shot within 25 seconds to claim the cash prize, as per the school’s statement. JJ’s mother, Marie Franks, mentioned that the event ran through January without a winner. However, everything changed when JJ took to the court. When asked about his plans for the $10,000 prize, JJ simply replied, “College.”
