“Competitive and energetic in games” JJ Redick claims Chet Holmgren is the ‘younger’ version of $70 million superstar
Chet Holmgren, Giannis Antetokounmpo and JJ Redick
JJ Redick just gave Chet Holmgren another elite comparison and this one has shocked many around. This time the superstar at the other end was Giannis Antetokounmpo the “Greek Freak” and this has really left many fans thinking since it makes sense but at the same time also denies many things. Some other stars who have been compared with Chet Holmgren earlier are Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis and other great bigs of the league. But this time JJ Redick brought in the better and surprising one as the potential is really present and the road for the young gun can be great.
Chet Holmgren has already proved the Oklahoma City Thunder right for drafting him second overall in the NBA Draft. As he showcased his potential, greats and heroics in the NBA 2K23 Summer League in Las Vegas. There he showed the world how great of a two-way player he can be if developed and trusted with fair opportunities. Even JJ Redick got the new comparison by spectating him play in the NBA Summer League. As he was present on the broadcasting table while the young gun was dominating the floor on both the ends. So the new comparison is understandable and acceptable as we can trust JJ Redick’s eyes for the experience he had there.

JJ Redick compares Chet Holmgren with Giannis Antetokounmpo
JJ Redick on the recent episode of his podcast “The Old Man and The Three” talked about his in-person experience of watching Chet Holmgren go to work against his rivals and quoted: “Watching Chet Holmgren in person was an experience. He’s got a confidence to his game. He’s got a competitiveness to his game. He’s got a really strong belief in self. Watching him move in transition, it reminded me of a young Giannis. I hate the comparison as Giannis is 1-of-1 and hopefully Chet will also be 1-of-1.”
JJ Redick didn’t just stop with the comparison he also appreciated the young gun for many of his moves and skillsets on both the offensive and defensive end of the court. Chet Holmgren really has impressed many around the league and now all of them wait for the real season to begin so they can spectate him again. Talking about the new comparison with Giannis Antetokounmpo, JJ Redick isn’t wrong with it as just some time in the weight room with focus and commitment Chet Holmgren may get it done, but again there’s only one Greek Freak.
