Dillon Brooks is back in the NBA headlines. The former Memphis Grizzlies player has shocked the whole basketball world after bagging an $80 million worth contract with the Houston Rockets. Not many expected him to get such a lucrative deal, and many are still clowning the Houston Rockets for giving Dillon Brooks the bag. But JJ Redick, though, is a believer and is defending the Canadian baller.

Brooks was clowned by the league for failing to back his trash-talk against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2023 playoffs. Since then, the player has encountered a torrent of criticism. Regardless, Redick has trust in Brooks’ abilities as a player.

Redick, on his podcast, “The Old Man and The Three,” showed his support for Dillon Brooks. He also clapped back on all the haters who thought Brooks will be out of the league this offseason and will have to ball out in China.

The former NBA star said,

I want to say one thing about Dillon Brooks... When that report came out I thought it was bullsh*t. Everybody spent a month clowning this guy. They clowned him during the Lakers series, and after the report came out. I saw all the memes on Twitter and IG about him needing to learn Mandarin Chinese because he was going to go play in China.

He added,

Motherf***er just signed for 80 million... He’s a good player, a valuable player. I’ve said it many times, and I’ll say it again. I want a Dillon Brooks on my team, I want a disrupter. I want a guy that’s a pest, and I want a guy who can defend at his level. He’s an all-defensive type player. You need those guys on your team.

Rockets splash big money to acquire Dillon Brooks and other pieces

The Houston Rockets are locked in and want to be a contender as soon as possible. The front office is trying its level best to land the best pieces to complement new HC Ime Udoka’s game plan.

The team isn’t limiting itself to building around the young core. In fact, they have committed $210 million just to bring in the duo of Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks.

The franchise has also signed some impact stars like Jock Landale and Jeff Green. With Ime Udoka at the helm, he will help the team get better and probably contend for the title. They might be not done yet and can still look around to move some pieces and get better.
