“Why don’t you tell the coach that” Joe Lacob takes a cheap shot at Steve Kerr over Jonathan Kuminga’s game-time

“Why don’t you tell the coach that” Joe Lacob takes a cheap shot at Steve Kerr over Jonathan Kuminga’s game-time

Joe Lacob advises Steve Kerr to play Jonathan Kuminga more

There was a lot of speculation about where Steve Kerr and Joe Lacob’s Golden State will be at the end of this NBA season, after suffering their worst couple of years in recent history. People forget that ‘Warriors’ is their name, it is a part of who they are, winning is in their DNA. The Warriors have stepped up and claimed what is theirs, their opponents have bowed down, and the haters are nowhere to be seen, as the Golden State Warriors clinch their 4th NBA Title in 8 seasons.

Joe Lacob and Golden State Warriors may have lost some raw talent in their contingent, but they still have loads of talent in their roster. The Golden State Warriors’ roster includes a lot of guys who are still young in the league, and haven’t proven themselves. But players like Jordan Poole, Otto Porter Jr., Gary Payton II, Jonathan Kuminga and Kevon Looney fit well within the system, as displayed in the playoffs this year, and Joe Lacob is the man behind this masterstroke

We know if he can just line up everything the way he should” – Joe Lacob fires shots at Steve Kerr on Andre Iguodala’s podcast

Warriors owner Joe Lacob was a guest on Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner’s ‘Point Forward’ podcast and they discussed a lot of things about the Warriors and what the 2021-22 season meant to them. One of the interesting tidbits from the conversation came when Iggy brought up Kuminga and Lacob told him to tell the coach so that he plays Kuminga more.

Iguodala: “Obviously Kuminga has got all the talent in the world. We know if he can just line up everything the way he should…”
Lacob: “Why don’t you tell our coach that so he plays him?

Kuminga has incredible potential and showed flashes of it throughout his rookie season. He can be an All-NBA level player if he develops well, something that even Warriors ownership is evidently aware of.

Steve Kerr is in just his eighth season as an NBA head coach, all with the Warriors. He already is among the all-time greats, “Top 5 coaches of All Time”, as Stephen A Smith stated after the NBA Finals. The Warriors head coach enjoyed his own 15-year playing career where he won five championships, while clinching his 4th Title as a coach. When Steve Kerr came to the Warriors, it was because the team needed a head coach who would reset the culture in Oakland. It may seem like Joe lacob is lashing out at Steve Kerr, but its clearly evident that lacob knows and trusts Kerr with what he does with the team.

“He’s got that sort of shocking athleticism that’s rare, even in the NBA where there’s so many great athletes, JK stands out. There’s just a suddenness to his burst, whether it’s catching and going or he had that tip-dunk where his head was next to the rim. “I thought his minutes were really good and I loved the way he played and prepared for the game. He’s coming along.

It’s going to be a process for him, he’s so young. As it is for most young guys, there’s so much to learn. It’s not possible for anyone at 19 to come in and really understand everything that needs to happen to win NBA games.” Steve Kerr praised Jonathan after their win against Orlando Magic in December 2021, so he definitely knows what Kuminga can achieve in the NBA. Kunimga’s second year should lead to some natural progression in minutes and their role, as he could one day be the replacement for Draymond Green in GSW and Lacob will be hoping that Kerr extracts that potential out of the second-year player.
