The Boston Celtics defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 121-87 in Game 2 of their second-round playoff series, leveling it at 1-1. The main focus after the historically bad 34-point defeat was on Embiid, the newly crowned Most Valuable Player (MVP) of this season. Things don’t seem to be going right with the Cameroonian who has a history with the Boston Celtics.

Joel Embiid has faced the Boston Celtics 10 times in his playoff career. Out of those 10 matchups, Embiid has lost 9 times, winning only one. This lopsided stat is a reason for the 76ers to worry, who have lost another game in the presence of their star player after winning Game 1 without him. Now the question arises, are the 76ers better off without Embiid against the Celtics?

“The Process” Joel Embiid, who was named the MVP on Tuesday night had missed his team’s last two games with a knee injury. On his return to the starting lineup against the Celtics in Game 2 on Wednesday night, Embiid had a rough outing. He scored only 15 points and grabbed three rebounds as the Celtics cruised past the 76ers to level the series. The star from the previous game, James Harden scored 12 points, four assists, and 10 rebounds. Surprisingly, Tobias Harris led the way with an abysmal 16 points, and seven rebounds.

Jaylen Brown was the hero for the Celtics in Game 2, scoring 25 points, four assists, and three rebounds. Malcolm Brogdon followed with 23 points, two assists, and six rebounds. Derrick White and Marcus Smart added 15 points each to eventually lead their team to a dominant win. The 76ers had a terrible performance overall, helping the Celtics respond to their surprise Game 1 loss in a dominant fashion.
