No fan will be doubting Joel Embiid‘s ability to surprise opponents on the court. The Philadelphia 76ers’ superstar regularly pulls off moves that should not be possible for a player his size.

After all, the Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid is a towering center. At the same time, he has many audacious moves to add to his size, strength, and deft touch. Last night, he seemingly took a leaf out of Anthony Edwards‘ book. The play was used on back-to-back nights by two different players. And for the big man to pull it off left fans in a state of shock.

Embiid went up against Orlando Magic center Goga Bitadze one-on-one around the three-point line. After trying to drive to the basket, he had to stop around the free-throw line after Bitadze seemingly stopped him from going further. Embiid then faked left to throw Bitadze off his defensive position, moved right, tossed the ball onto the backboard, grabbed the rebound, and brought it down with a two-handed dunk.

This move is similar to what Edwards displayed in yesterday’s game. A big man of Embiid’s size performing such a move is utterly rare. Smaller players with more fluidity tend to find it easier. Not the backboard toss and dunk, but the move to create space against the defender.

Embiid had to get Bitadze off his defensive coverage to be able to complete the move. Else it would have been difficult to lob the ball off the glass. One fan hilariously claimed that he now wants to see everyone pull the same move:

Embiid did the move as part of his effort that resulted in 36 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals in a 124-109 win against the Magic. 4 of his teammates contributed in double-digits to help Embiid to seal the win. The Magic in contrast had only 3 players who scored in double-digits.

Fans now want to see everyone do the move after Embiid’s play

After getting a great piece of entertainment from Edwards the previous night, basketball fans least expected another player to perform such a move. Let alone a 7-foot 280-pound big man. But such is the skill level of the superstar that fans got another great piece of entertainment.

So, it was not surprising that as soon as the play was broadcast, fans went on the internet and voiced their appreciation. Social media is full of such comments. Check out some examples below;

Joel Embiid does not need to perform such moves to solidify his name as one of the best players in the league. But then, why not? After all, he is skilled enough to do so.
