Joel Embiid is once again having a great season for an NBA player. The All-Star player seems to be at the apex of his career, however, not everything seems to be fine with the Philadelphia 76ers star. After the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center, Embiid said that he has not been completely healthy in the last few weeks and needs to consult the doctor, once the All-Star break comes.
Before entering the game on Wednesday, the 76ers’ big man was already questionable to appear in the game. He was reported to have been suffering from left foot soreness. In the past several games, he was listed under the questionable or probable category with the same issue. Speaking to the media in the post-game conference, he revealed that he might not appear in the All-Star game. “I’m not healthy. I haven’t been healthy for the past three weeks, or month. I was just trying to get to the All-Star break without missing games and stuff,” he said. It is worth noting that, just 30 minutes before the game was cleared to play.
Embiid scored 29 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals along with a block in 39 minutes of the game against Cleveland. When a reporter asked if he would play in the All-Star game, he said, “I’m not sure.” So far into the season, the six-time NBA All-Star has been the key factor in his team’s resurgence, along with James Harden.

Joel Embiid says, not injury but the championship is his concern
When the reporters asked Embiid about his concerns regarding his injury, ‘The Process’ vehemently said that his only focus is to win the championship. “Like I said, the focus is on winning, especially getting ready for the second half of the season and the playoffs. I’m focused on winning a championship. If that helps me get there healthy, then that’s what I’m going to do. I’m just going to see how it goes,” said the 2022 NBA Scoring champion.
Embiid was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for both December and January and is also only behind Luka Doncic in scoring this season. He has been averaging 33.1 points per game this season.
However, when asked if being an injury replacement for All-Star starter Kevin Durant serves as motivation for him to try to win the game’s Most Valuable Player award, he said his focus will instead be on getting healthy. With the addition of James Harden and other key players perfecting their plays, Philadelphia has a serious chance of winning the NBA title.
