Now an American International, Philadelphia 76ers’ superstar Joel Embiid has a net worth of around $275 million. That is completely justified, considering the fact that he has over his NBA career, already earned more than a whopping $214 million.

The player has, despite a slow start to his overall career, established himself as one of the best big men in the league in recent years. That has resulted in the 2023 MVP title as well, with Embiid also coming close on a couple of other occasions. Currently earning close to $50 million for the 2023-24 season, Embiid is doing better than most players out there.

Regardless, the financial success that his status as the franchise’s biggest star represents, means that he is effectively able to splurge on any luxurious item, or property that his heart desires. That includes a Philadelphia penthouse, which Embiid bought for a whopping $3.2 million back in 2018.

The gorgeous 2-bedroom, 3-bathroom property has recently been listed to be sold online for $5.5 million, representing a healthy profit for the former France International. That is expected, considering Embiid already owns a mansion in Philadelphia and is not planning to move out anytime soon.

The penthouse appears to be an investment and comes with a $3800 monthly HOA fee which is also bound to have forced the player’s hand. Regardless, with the property also boasting of an indoor pool, and considering Embiid’s reputation as a ‘flopper’, especially amongst rival fans, the result was, online trolling.

One fan in particular, hilariously claimed that the 29-year-old had posted pictures of the pool where he practices his diving.

NBA stars are always at risk of being ridiculed on the internet. That is even more true for superstars such as Joel Embiid. Still, the 29-year-old would not have realized the extent of the trolling he might end up receiving, simply as a result of trying to sell his property.

A range of fans reacted to the tweet.

Some questioned how the property is worth so much, when there are only 2 bedrooms, while others claimed that the HOA payment in itself was too huge. One fan hilariously questioned whether the listing of the property means Embiid is looking for a way out of 76ers.

Of course, with the team currently 3rd in the East and Embiid consistently a part of MVP conversations, that is highly unlikely.
