The James Harden trade drama still hasn’t ended, despite the regular season inching closer and closer. Harden is still unhappy with his position in the Philadelphia 76ers. The drama has undoubtedly effected the team’s chemistry and there is a certain sense of uncertainty regarding the team’s future.
Amidst all the drama, 76ers star, Tyrese Maxey has spoken about the current team psyche. Maxey said that despite all the off-court drama, Harden has been immensely professional on it. He was quoted saying, “First of all, Imma give a shoutout to James. He didn’t make it weird at all. He came in, and he was very, like, not what I was expecting. He was very receptive. He worked hard. He did all the drills.”
Maxey added on that he was used to dealing with situations like these. He said, “It’s sad to say this, but this is normal for me. I’ve been through this before.”
Maxey said that despite him thinking it was going to be an uncomfortable training camp with Harden around, Harden has actually helped youngsters improve. He said, “He was talking to even young guys that he didn’t know. James Harden, MVP, scoring champ, two-time assist leader, he’s sitting there talking to guys like Ricky Council, ‘Hey, when you help, you should do this.’ It’s not what I was picturing.”
James Harden situation with the 76ers
James Harden, during the off-season made it amply clear he did not want to play with the 76ers General Manager – Daryl Morey – any longer. He called Morey a liar and said he never wanted to be associated with him again.
Harden himself hopes to be dealt to the Los Angeles Clippers. It appears Morey however, will not let Harden go until he is absolutely sure that he can get valuable assets for him.
Hopefully, the 76ers are able to sort out this drama before the regular season starts. If this drama spills over it could hamper the 76ers performance. The 76ers need to buck up this season, and prove to he league that they are a championship worthy team, and trading Harden seems to be the first step towards that goal.
