John Wall can't wait to get started with the LA Clippers

John Wall has officially signed with the LA Clippers, and the five-time All-Star is excited to get going. The LA Clippers will arguably have one of the strongest and deepest rosters in the NBA next season. The return of Kawhi Leonard, a healthy Paul George and a bevy of elite role players like Norman Powell, Marcus Morris and Reggie Jackson, among others, bolsters their chances of winning their first NBA championship. The All-Star guard recently spoke about the new chapter in his career, having nothing but high praise for the Steve Ballmer organization.

Los Angeles Clippers had a poor 2021-22 season, as they were not able to make it to the Playoffs. The reason was not because the lacked the talented players to get there. They have Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, but both of them have been suffering from important injuries in recent years.

Paul George, who did play many games this season was nowhere near as what the Clippers fans expected from an All-Star. On the other hand, Kawhi Leonard, who has been debated amongst the most influential NBA players of the last decade was injured due to an ACL injury that kept him off the court for the entirety of the season.

Despite playing just 40 games over the past three NBA seasons, John Wall is ready for the next part of his journey. Wall joined the LA Clippers in free agency and the point guard couldn’t be more excited. Now, he wants to help Kawhi Leonard and Paul George to the end goal. Wall negotiated a buyout with the Houston Rockets after playing two seasons there. He quickly agreed to a two-year deal with the Clippers. He considers it the best fit in terms of his skill and the situation in need, especially when it comes to pushing the pace.

It’s been a rough ride for former Wizards guard John Wall, dealing with constant injuries over the last few years, including rupturing his Achilles tendon. As a result, the five-time All-Star missed a sizeable chunk of his prime. The 31-year-old’s stint with the Houston Rockets was no different.

“I am super excited, I haven’t played so I am just ready to play. Just imagine I got to push the pace and I have guys like a Kawhi Leonard or Paul George on this side or Nicolas Batum or Reggie Jackson or Terance Mann or Luke Kennard and have a big like Zu who can run the floor. Just having those guys that can knock down shots but at the same time can defend at a high level.”

“Just a first-class organization, great team, great talent, I think it’s just a great place for me to be,” Wall said when asked about the Clippers. “I feel like they’re a championship contender team. I feel like I fit whatever they need, to be a point guard there and try to be a leader, and make the game easier for Kawhi and PG.” After leaving the Rockets, Wall decided to take his talents to the LA Clippers, signing a two-year $13M+ contract.

“I know with this team I probably won’t have the ball in my hands as much as I have in my career, but that’s kinda the reason why I made this decision, so I don’t have to be Batman every night. I can be Robin or sometimes the third guy, and the game should be easy for me, but it’s gonna be a lot of fun.” It seems like Wall knows his role very well now, he is going to give his best to achieve the best possible result for his team and ready to sacrifice to win it all with Kawhi and Paul George beside him.
