“You need veteran guys to help these young teams out” John Wall wants NBA teams to sign veterans

John Wall
John Wall might not be in his best shape of his life, but the former Washington Wizards is a fierce competitor, and the world knows that now. Since joining the Los Angeles Clippers John Wall has been trying to find his rhythm. Recently, talking to Clutch Points, Wall opened up about almost getting pushed out of the NBA and how he had thoughts of committing suicide.
As a part of the Houston Rockets last season, Wall didn’t play the entire year because the organization was trying to complete a deal that never materialized. He signed with the Los Angeles Clippers this offseason with the hope of reviving his career after deciding to accept a buyout.
Opening about his struggles during his injury rehab Wall said, “I tore my Achilles and lost the only sanctuary I’ve ever known — the game of basketball. I ended up with such a bad infection from the surgeries that I nearly had to have my foot amputated. A year later, I lost my best friend in the whole world, my mom, to breast cancer….I was this close to taking my own life.”
Wall also recalled the time he was on the verge of getting pushed out of the league since teams were reluctant to sign him. He said, “I feel like I was on the edge of kinda getting pushed out myself,” John added. “If I wasn’t a true professional last year and the Clippers didn’t give me a chance, I don’t know if I’d probably been here right now.”
Recently, several veteran players like Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, and once the Hornets’ superstar Kemba Walker have found themselves out of the NBA. Since teams are now constructing their roster around younger stars, it is difficult for the older stars to find a spot on the roster. Upset Clippers’ guard stated, “I think it’s kind of frustrating for a lot of great veterans in this league because a lot of those guys are getting pushed out… Melo, Dwight, even Kemba Walker. You need veteran guys to help these young teams out.”

John Wall has been showing flashes of his vintage self

There is no disputing that John Wall has been a crucial part of the Los Angeles Clippers rotation this year, even though he may not be the superstar he once was. Despite the fact that John Wall is yet to have a breakout game this season, he has been showing flashes of his previous self in Washington.
Knowing the kind of scary injury Wall had to fight and the mental health problems he had to endure, it would be unjust to expect him to be himself so soon into the season.
Behind the back layup, running like Flash in the fast break, dropping flashy dimes fans have been getting a glimpse of John Wall on the court. Though, he is yet to show why he was a franchise player in Washington. So far into the 2022-23 season with the Clippers, Wall has played 13 games and is averaging 11.6 points and 5.7 assists per game.
