The drama between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole stirred up again a year after the punching incident. Green’s recent comments justifying his actions received a direct response from Poole.
The fiasco stemmed from last year’s training camp, where Green punched Poole following an argument. Green’s recent justifications for the incident re-kindled their controversial relationship. Despite the Warriors trading Poole to the Washington Wizards, the situation between the two keeps on worsening.
The 33-year-old veteran justified his actions on a recent appearance on The Pat Bev podcast, “I don’t just hit people. Dialogue happens over time, and you usually ain’t triggered by something that fast,” Green said, “We know stuff you don’t say amongst men. We know things that you have to stand on.”
Although Poole remained silent on the situation, Poole’s father had responded directly to Green on Twitter, “Jp was his guy, and he avoided me all last year. He is as soft as ****h, and I’m standing by that… He didn’t apologize to me and my wife.” The incident caused chemistry issues for the Warriors throughout the season, eventually leading to their exit from the Playoffs.
The Punch also significantly impacted the team’s off-season move this summer. The Warriors’ front office was forced to pick between Green and Poole, eventually leading to Poole getting traded to the Eastern Conference. The team paid Green a $100 million extension instead of Poole, who never played up to his $120 million contract last season.

NBA Twitter reacts to Jordan Poole’s response to Draymond Green
Following Draymond Green’s comments, Jordan Poole made a slight jab at the Warriors veteran by posting an Instagram story with the caption – “Talk of the topic… Find you a hobby.” Quoting lyrics from Gunna’s song ‘Bottom.’
The 24-year-old also posted a video of him working out on his boxing skills, and fans were quick to pounce on the opportunity to link it to Green. Some users have even noted that Poole is getting ready to hit Green when the Warriors play the Wizards, with others jokingly warning Green to look out for Poole.

The schedule for the upcoming NBA season has not yet been released, but the matchup between the Warriors and the Wizards will be a movie. The Warriors are looking for a Championship push with the addition of Chris Paul, while Poole is ready to establish himself with the Wizards.
