“Here to keep banners hanging” Jordan Poole fires stern warning after Draymond Green apologises to him

Jordan Poole has had a whirlwind off-season. It’s been nonstop for the young star, from his major altercation with Draymond Green to signing a four-year, $123 million contract with the Golden State Warriors. During Sunday’s press conference, he finally spoke out about Draymond Green’s apology. “He apologized as a professional and we plan to handle ourselves that way,” Poole said. “We’re here to play basketball and everybody in the locker room and our team knows what it takes to win a championship. We’re gonna do that on the court. That’s all I have to say regarding the matter. We’re here to win a championship and keep hanging banners”

Green and Poole got into a heated argument during practice earlier this month, which ended with Green swinging at Poole and hitting him in the face. Green apologized before taking time away from the team after the video of the punch was leaked to TMZ. The Warriors chose to punish him internally rather than suspend him. Green then returned to the team on Thursday, downplaying the punch before responding to Poole’s on Sunday. “As far as us moving forward, Jordan’s a professional, I’m a professional. We have a job to do”

Jordan Poole signs 4-year $123 million deal with the warriors

Jordan Poole is not planning on leaving San Francisco anytime soon. Poole, 23, agreed to a four-year, $140 million extension on Saturday, according to his agents. In 2022, the former first-round pick had his best season yet, averaging 18.5 points and 4.0 assists per game. Poole started 51 games for Golden State last season and five more in the playoffs, averaging 17.0 points per game to help the Warriors win the championship.

However, signing Poole is still not a luxury. Draymond Green) may not return to the team next season. Klay Thompson’s contract expires in 2024, and projecting his career after two major injuries limited him last season is difficult. Poole can play alongside Curry as he ages and serve as a bridge to whatever the Warriors’ next iteration is, assuming the other younger players develop as well. Poole will be an important contributor during the Dubs’ title defence, even if he needs to work on his individual defence. And his role should only expand over the course of the contract.
