The series between the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers is going neck and neck. While the Lakers won Game 1, Game 2 saw absolute domination from the Dubs. However, Game 3 left the defending champions in disarray as they faced a 30-point blowout in Los Angeles. Out of the many concerns for Golden State, Jordan Poole‘s form on the court is one of the major ones. Poole is one the most important players for the Warriors coming off the bench. However, his recent run in the 2023 NBA playoffs hasn’t lived up to his reputation as a talented guard.

Jordan Poole has been averaging only 11.6 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds in the 2023 NBA playoffs. However, he had a much better playoff run last year, as he averaged 17.0 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.8 rebounds. Understandably, fans and critics have been disappointed and frustrated with his inconsistent gameplay. Moreover, many critics have been pointing out his lack of game sense. One of them, quite recently, is Gilbert Arenas.

“Poole’s development is going to be to understand that everything doesn’t need to be a highlight. Understand that you do not need to shake and bake every play. You come down and get an easy one,” Gilbert Arenas said during “Gil’s Arena” live stream.

“Watching Poole right now, I might trade him… “ he said. “If I can package him and get someone I can rely on, I’m going to try it. He’s not Steph. He’s not a replacement. He’s showing me this s—t, that’s what he’s showing me,” Arenas went on to explain.“He’s supposed to be the best player on the court, right, and he kind of looks like the worst player. He’s the highest paid on this court, and he looks like the worst player.”

How is the Lakers-Warriors series shaping up?

Although Jordan Poole hasn’t been playing to his full potential, the series is almost evenly poised at the moment. However, the Los Angeles Lakers do have a 2-1 series lead going into Game 4. Moreover, as the Lakers play at home, they will have a significant advantage because Golden State has not had a great season on the road.

On the other hand, before the Lakers series, the Warriors won two consecutive away games against the Sacramento Kings in round one. However, one of those was on the back of Stephen Curry. Therefore, as a unit, they’d like to believe they can win away from home. Klay Thompson, too will look to go big with his scores in Game 4 after just one impressive 30-point performance.

Needless to say that the battle between LeBron James and his men and the defending champions is proving to be exciting. While the Lakers push for their second ring in four years, Golden State will look to defend their title. The men in purple and gold have an opportunity to go 3-1 up. The Warriors, on the other hand, would want to level the series 2-2. Both are equally eager to advance to the Western Conference Finals. Regardless, Game 4 promises to be an exciting game of basketball.
