Once hailed as the future face of the Golden State Warriors, Jordan Poole opened up about his trade to the Washington Wizards, expressing his preparedness and lack of surprise. Transitioning from a championship-contending Warriors squad to a team with an uncertain future, having made the playoffs only once in the past four seasons, has undoubtedly posed a challenging adjustment for Poole.
During an interview, Poole expressed a sense of pride in his ability to adapt to various situations and roles. He clarified that while he didn’t consider himself a complete chameleon, he could effectively adjust to different circumstances. Poole also acknowledged that his role with the Warriors underwent significant fluctuations throughout his tenure, implying that he had to constantly adapt to the changes.
“I think I take pride in being able to kind of, not necessarily be a chameleon, but adapt to whatever situation, whatever role,” Poole explained. “I think something that was clear was my role fluctuated, just a lot, over the course of my time,” the guard said, taking a subtle dig at the Warriors.
Poole further emphasized that his ability to adapt will enable him to embrace different roles based on the Washington Wizards‘ needs. In what could be perceived as another pointed remark towards the Warriors, he stated, “Luckily, it’ll be a big one (role) over here, which is cool and everybody should be excited.”

Both players and spokespersons associated with the Warriors have discussed the impact of Draymond Green‘s altercation with Jordan Poole, highlighting its effects not only on the individuals involved but also on the overall team atmosphere. In fact, Green himself acknowledged that the incident hindered his ability to lead the team effectively and with complete force.
During his four-year tenure with the Golden State Warriors, Jordan Poole maintained career averages of 15.8 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game, with a three-point shooting percentage of 34%. Notably, in the championship-winning season of 2021-22, Poole played a significant role for the team. However, following the altercation, his performance notably declined to considerably lower levels.
This transition presents a valuable opportunity for Poole to embark on a fresh start. With his move to the Washington Wizards, Poole is poised to assume a more prominent role next season, as he himself acknowledged. Recognized for his scoring abilities, the 24-year-old combo guard could thrive as the focal point of the Wizards’ offense, potentially unlocking his full offensive potential.
It’ll be interesting to see what the future has in store for Jordan Poole and the Wizards.
