The NBA has always been a hugely controversial league. However, amidst the range of drama that happens on a regular basis, some situations stick out like a sore thumb.

Josh Giddey‘s situation is not helping him in any way. The Oklahoma City Thunder star was subjected to trolling on social media yet again after his team left him out of a certain high school event. After all, he has been accused of previously being in a relationship with a high school minor.

The Oklahoma City Thunder made a special visit to the Minnehaha Academy in Minnesota today. They made the trip on the occasion of their star rookie Chet Holmgren‘s high school jersey retirement. A video reel posted by Joe Doerrer shows the Thunder personnel making their way onto the school’s basketball court. The video garnered over 2 million views. Not because of the Thunder stars walking in a row. Rather, as fans pointed out, it was seemingly due to Josh Giddey not being a part of the ceremony.

All the players and personnel were seen walking in. The video showed Giddey’s superstar teammate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and head coach Mark Daigneault, along with other players and staff. But keen-eyed fans noticed that Giddey was nowhere to be seen. With the investigation by the league on Giddey still ongoing, it was probably best for the Thunder organization to leave him out of anything related to high schools.

After all, Giddey has been accused of being in a relationship with a high school minor. Police investigations have cleared him after a lack of corroborating evidence. But the league has started its investigation. At least until the time the league clears Giddey, high school-related events will surely be a sore topic.

Josh Giddey has been subject to boos and trolls often. In many an NBA game, opposing fans let out boos each time Giddey got the ball. It is fair on the fan’s part, after all, the player has been accused of a serious crime. Even after the police investigation exempted him, fans have not stopped reminding Giddey about his actions.

The latest footage again had the fans trolling Josh Giddey on social media. After all, the Thunder themselves deemed it best that he is not part of anything that has high school written on it. Check out some of the reactions on social media:

Giddey seemingly does not have any choice but to live with the mocking. At least until the investigation is over, the player is bound to struggle to change the narrative surrounding him.
