And amongst the heap, it is Josh Giddey who is now in the headlines. Allegations of pedophilia that were levied against the young star have led to a hit to his stock. However, what makes this particular case different is how race-related arguments have permeated the conversation, causing an even bigger debate on the whole scandal.

News broke that, despite all the allegations against Giddey, he will not face criminal charges after an investigation into the alleged underage relationship took place. As for the fans, they have gone berserk on socials, causing a huge debate and bringing in the likes of Ja Morant and Kyrie Irving into the fold.

The news of the case being closed has brought up a racial matter debate comparing the treatment of black and white athletes. In this case, Josh Giddey, who had a sexual relationship with an underage girl, is not being punished by the law.

Kyrie Irving (who shared antisemitic content on social media) and Ja Morant (who flashed guns on social media and was charged with assault), two popular black figures in the NBA world faced serious consequences after their acts. And now fans are seemingly hell-bent on exposing this double standard.
