Former Suns lottery pick Josh Jackson accused of r*pe, hires Donald Trump’s attorney to beat charges

Last Month, a civil case was filed against John Jackson, an ex-Phoenix Suns player, by a woman of sexual assault. The two had allegedly met at the 2022 Super Bowl Party in New York. However, no criminal has been charged against John due to the alleged incident. In June, Jackson had his first appearance in front of the court. Post the appearance, in about 1 month, Jackson hired the legal team that represented Donald Trump.

Trump was involved in a case that brought charges against him, put in by Special Counsel Jack Smith. Lauro, representing Jackson, runs a small criminal defense firm with branches in New York and Florida. According to Lauro, the firm helps individuals and businesses in “crisis situations”.

Lauro did not respond to a reporter’s query over email, nor did he reply by text. No other lawyer from the firm of Lauro has been involved in the case according to transcripts. A person from Jackson’s talent agency declined to comment on the ra*e allegations made against Jackson. Lauro has, in the past, represented NBA official Tim Donaghy, who eventually had to plead guilty to betting charges pressed against him.

What is the incident in question? What did Jackson do allegedly?

The accuser, whose identity is concealed, has claimed in the court that she went to the party because she took a liking for Andre Drummond, who was the co-host. However, things turned out to be something else. She agreed to meet with Jackson in the morning the next day, on one condition that Drummond will be there with him.

She claims that she was intoxicated as she reached the hotel room, and was offered $1500 in exchange for sexual favors. According to her, she denied it and laid down on the bed, falling asleep almost immediately. She was awakened by Jackson forcibly trying to have sex with her. She fought him, immediately left the room, purchased some contraceptives from the pharmacy, went to her home, and showered.

Later, she also accuses coercion was done for her to not drop any charges. She received threats on text messages and two “imposing, hoodie-clad female individuals,” broke into her apartment, physically assaulting and robbing her according to the accuser. They have been charged with larceny and criminal trespassing. Josh Jackson is now not playing anywhere and is probably focussing all his energy fighting the allegations against him.
