Team USA Basketball is slowly building up the roster for the upcoming Olympics. Megastar LeBron James decided to reunite the best players in the NBA for a redemption run at the upcoming Paris Olympics. James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry have already committed to the squad. An NBA insider has revealed that Jrue Holiday is a lock-in for the team, bringing out puzzling reactions from NBA fans.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania revealed a while ago that the Boston Celtics star and NBA Champion is a lock in the core squad. Superstar Devin Booker will join him as a part of the core. Holiday joins James, Durant, Curry, Booker, Jason Tatum, and Joel Embiid as the core to represent the USA. This means the United States will have the best players in every position at the Paris Olympics. It is something they did not have at the last FIBA World Cup.

Charania also added that Anthony Davis has expressed his desire to represent the country. Then there is also the case of the two budding superstars, Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton. Edwards and Haliburton were core members of the FIBA World Cup squad. Having such a team makes the Americans favorites to repeat as Gold Medalists.

The inclusion of Holiday is puzzling as he is not at the same superstar level as the rest of the squad. Other superstar point guards were overlooked in place of Holiday. But one might argue that Holiday’s big game management and defense are his biggest talking points. It is something those other point guards do not possess.

Basketball fans understood when LeBron James recruited Durant, Curry, and other superstars to join the Olympic squad for a redemption run. After all, the FIBA World Cup debacle hurt the Americans too hard. They have always taken pride in their domination of basketball. But that is where the Jrue Holiday addition has left fans puzzled.
